King Charles “keener than ever” to see Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet

King Charles enjoys a close relationship with many of his family members, particularly his grandchildren Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. However, the same cannot be said for his U.S.-based grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Living in California, far from the UK, the relationship between Charles and his younger grandchildren is reportedly non-existent. This distance, coupled with ongoing tensions between Charles and his son, Prince Harry, complicates any potential reunion.

Harry has been vocal about his concerns regarding security for his family in the UK. He has stated that without the protection he deems necessary, he will not bring his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children to visit. Harry has reportedly asked King Charles to help arrange this protection, but rumors suggest the king is unable to meet these demands. Critics have even accused Harry and Meghan of using their children as leverage, or “emotional blackmail,” to secure this security arrangement. Despite these accusations, Charles is said to be desperate to see Archie and Lilibet.

The issue of security has become a central point of contention in the ongoing feud between Harry and Charles. Although Harry has taken legal action to regain state-funded security, the court has so far denied his requests. This ongoing battle, combined with other personal and public tensions, has made the situation particularly difficult. While Harry’s older brother, Prince William, and his wife, Kate Middleton, have distanced themselves from the Sussexes, King Charles seems more willing to maintain a relationship. His motivation may stem from his desire to connect with Archie and Lilibet, whom he has met only a few times.

The emotional toll on King Charles is significant. Reports indicate that he feels heartbroken about not seeing his U.S.-based grandchildren, with sources suggesting this absence has left “a massive hole in his heart.” Charles has a close bond with Prince William’s children, and he longs for a similar relationship with Archie and Lilibet. Although Charles has kept in touch through video calls, it’s far from the meaningful relationship he desires.

The feud worsened in 2023 when Charles evicted Harry and Meghan from their UK residence, Frogmore Cottage, following the release of Harry’s memoir *Spare*. This decision has further strained their relationship, though Charles remains hopeful for a reconciliation. Royal experts suggest Charles may even visit the U.S. in the future, hoping to rebuild ties with Harry and his grandchildren. His wife, Queen Camilla, has reportedly encouraged him to mend the rift, urging him to send heartfelt gifts to the children.

Despite the challenges, Charles is determined to maintain some connection with his U.S.-based grandchildren, even if his relationship with Harry remains strained. For King Charles, family is of utmost importance, and he is unwilling to give up on Archie and Lilibet.
